The synonyms of cloudy swelling are parenchymatus
degeneration or granular degeneration or albuminous degeneration . The cloudy swelling is the commonest and
mildest retrogressive change taking place in the cell , as a result of injury
to the cell . Cardiac muscle , liver cells and kidneys are affected mostly . It
primarily affects the poteinous components of the cell and the cells will be
swollen due to increased water content of the cytoplasm as a result the
secretion of the organs will be dull , opaque and cloudy in appearance . The
cytoplasm of the cell will contain granules which indicate protein precipitate
often dissociating lipo-protein complex .
